Rencontres du MAN
Les Rencontres du MAN is a series of conference proceedings published by the Musée d’Archéologie nationale – Domaine national de Saint-Germain-en-Laye, one of France’s foremost national archaeological museums. Located in the royal château of Saint-Germain-en-Laye since 1862, the MAN holds one of the world’s most significant collections of prehistoric and protohistoric European artefacts and has long been a leading institution for archaeological research and dissemination.
First published in 2023, the series gathers the proceedings of scientific symposia and scholarly meetings organised at the museum. It covers a broad range of topics central to the discipline: archaeological science and collections, the history of archaeology, the lives and legacies of major figures in the field, and the study and exhibition of archaeological heritage in museums. The series is edited by an editorial board based at the museum.
Among the recurring events documented in this series are the colloquia associated with the Prix Joseph Déchelette, a European prize awarded every two years to an outstanding early-career doctoral researcher. The laureate is given the opportunity to invite to the museum the scholars whose work has informed their research, to organise a symposium of their design, and to publish the resulting proceedings — an initiative that places emerging voices at the heart of the international scholarly conversation.
