Dr. Sean V. Leatherbury

Sean V. Leatherbury is Assistant Professor in the School of Art History and Cultural Policy at University College Dublin. His research focuses on Roman and late antique visual and material cultures, and examines the relationship between art and text, issues of identity, and the transformation of artistic styles and forms from the Roman to the Byzantine period. His work has been supported by the Irish Research Council, the Oxford University Faculty of Classics, the Getty Research Institute, the Bard Graduate Center, the Council for British Research in the Levant, and the Dorothea L. Leonhardt Foundation. His first book, Inscribing Faith in Late Antiquity: Between Reading and Seeing, was published by Routledge in 2020.
