Dr. Anne Crone

Anne Crone is an archaeologist and dendrochronologist. After a PhD in dendrochronology at the University of Sheffield she has spent her working career as a Project Manager for AOC Archaeology Group, Edinburgh establishing and running their dendrochronology facility, and undertaking research and excavation on wetland settlements throughout Scotland. She has authored and co-authored monographs on several crannog excavations, The history of a Scottish lowland crannog: excavations at Buiston, Ayrshire 1989-90 (2000), A crannog of the 1st millennium AD; excavations by Jack Scott at Loch Glashan, Argyll, 1960 (2005) and A lake dwelling in its landscape; Iron Age settlement at Cults Loch, Castle Kennedy, Dumfries & Galloway (2018). She has also published widely on her dendrochronological research and has most recently been involved in developing a ScARF Dendrochronology Research Framework for Scotland (2024).
