Sidestone Press facilitates publication and distribution of your (PhD) theses, books, reports etc. Our primary focus lies with scientific and popular-scientific publications.
Sidestone produces a series of different types of books varying from hardbound- to paperback books, the latter being printed on-demand. The format of each book depends on the wishes of the author, the type of publication, the target audience and the number of copies printed.
Most Sidestone books are produced by Printing-on-Demand. These books are printed (both black/white and colour) on 4CC paper, have a wireless glue binding and are fitted with a matt-laminated full-colour cover.
Distribution
All Sidestone publications are permanently available in our Webshop. Therefore you do not have to worry about the availability. Anyone can buy your book online. Moreover your publications will be offered to external bookshops and distributors too! Books published by Sidestone are available for the whole world to buy.
All our books will moreover be sold internationally by our distributor Oxbow Books in the UK. Oxbow sells our publications through all major websites such als Amazon or Blackwell with further distribution through international wholesellers such as Gardners (UK), Bertrams (UK) and Baker & Taylor (USA).

Prices & Royalties
The public selling price of our books is set by Sidestone. The author however can always order as many copies as he or she likes for a strongly reduced price. The author, of course, will also get a fixed percentage (up to 15%) of all sales to third parties. For more information see our Royalties section.
Making additional information available online
For scientific books there are often many appendices which cannot always be included in the actual publication. We would argue that there is no need to! Sidestone offers to host any additional files, data, figures etc. you might have and wish to make public. Apart from buying your book, our visitors will be able to freely access this data in our webshop.
Authors rights
The author keeps all rights to his or her book when published by Sidestone.
Open Access
Sidestone fully supports the free online accessibility of scientific publications. For more information ont our position with regards to Open Access please visit our Open Access section.
Selection for Quality
By careful selection we can guarantee that all publications available in our Webshop will be of an appropriate content and quality (see bibliography for an overview of our catalogue). Therefore we do not accept all publication requests. The decision whether or not to accept a publication will always be made by Sidestone.
