Not every book is just a book. Sidestone Projects deals with some extraordinary book projects that are presented here. We work, for example, on several projects in wich we re-create old, out of press, academic books. Original copies of such books can be very rare and extremely expensive. Sidestone produces facsimile editions of such books.
Sidestone Projects are constantly looking for new interesting proposals. The main aim is making information available that is now either not, or no longer, available. All our current projects deal with Dutch publications, however if you have a suggestion for a new Sidestone Project we would love to hear about it!

Johan Picardt's Korte Beschryvinge van eenige Vergetene en Verborgene
ANTIQUITETEN
In 1660 Johan Picardt wrote the first book on the (pre)history of the Northern Netherlands. He was the first to deal extensively with things like the prehistoric burial mounds and megalithic tombs. These, according to Picardt, were inhabited by witches and built by giants respectively.
In April 2008 Sidestone presented a facsimile edition of this book including the famous copperplate illustrations. More information and illustrations are available in Dutch.

De inlandsche kunstnijverheid in Nederlands Indië

Between 1912 and 1930 a series of five books about the arts and crafts of the Dutch Indies was published. Sidestone Press will publish facsimile editions of all five books. The series covers the following subjects: part 1 -interweaving, part 2 - weaving, part 3 - batik-art, part 4 - gold- and silverworking, part 5 - working of non-precious metals.
Although richly illustrated, all publications are unfortunately in Dutch.

Nature photographer Jenne Boering
Over 40 years Jenne Boering has been working as a nature photographer. Together with Sidestone Press a series of thematic books will be published covering various subjects. Although Boering publishes in books and journals on a regular basis, most of his impressive collection of extraordinary photo's remain unpublished untill now.
Sidestone will present a series of full-colour photo books, the first book, Herfstig Noorden, has recently been published. More information and illustrations are available in Dutch.
