How & Why
All publications published by Sidestone are provided with an ISBN number, or an ISSN number for periodicals. This number facilitates searches and subsequently sales by other booksellers or distributors. When provided with an ISBN number your book can also be included in Google Booksearch. (See Open Access for more information.)

Costs
For registering an ISBN and/or a ISSN number for books with a minor (expected) print run (<50 copies) we will charge € 34,95. For all books with a (expected) print run of at least 50 copies, registration of ISBN or ISSN is free of charge.

Uploading & Ordering
Using your personal log-in code you can order your publication for our authors’ price. We aim at delivering your books within 7-10 working-days (within the Netherlands). International orders may take a little longer depending on mail services.

Distribution by Sidestone
All Sidestone books will be permanently available in our Webshop. Therefore you do not have to worry about the availability. Anyone can buy your book online. Moreover your book will be offered to (specialised) external bookshops and distributors too! All our books will moreover be sold internationally by our distributor Oxbow Books in the UK. Oxbow sells our publications through all major websites such as Amazon or Blackwell and further distributes through international wholesellers such as Gardners (UK), Bertrams (UK) and Baker & Taylor (USA).

     > > Check out our books at booksellers around the world!

Promotion & Press
To further promote your book, Sidestone will send out press-releases to (relevant) general media such papers, radio or television, but also specifically to professional journals and relevant newsletters and websites. On request we will send copies of your book to (professional) media for review purposes.

What is Open Access
In this digital era it is becoming more and more the standard for scientific publications to be made freely available online. There are already many websites where publications can be downloaded as PDF files. Open Access repositories such as Dans Easy or Google Booksearch are but a few examples. It is however uncommon for publishers to support Open Access as this gives free access to the books they sell. However, at Sidestone we think differently…

Why Open Access?
Sidestone fully supports scientific publications to be made freely available online. To foster a good scientific climate it is important that researchers have easy access to scientific resources. There is however an additional reason for our support. Although researchers and institutes in Western countries usually have good access to scientific resources, this is not the case for many non-Western countries.

Science available for everyone, everywhere!
Open Access facilitates researchers all over the world to access scientific publications. For this reason we completely support free access to our publications online. We offer full access to all our author’s publications in Google Booksearch and Google Scholar. Once added to Google, the complete contents of the publications can also be searched in our co-branded Sidestone Booksearch page.

We further encourage our authors to upload their publications to other digital repositories. This however is not an obligation, the decision whether or not to make a publication open access is entirely at the author’s discretion.
