Why Sidestone?
Realisation
Sidestone produces a series of different types of books varying from hardbound to paperback books, the latter being printed on-demand. The format of each book depends on the wishes of the author, the type of publication, the target audience and the number of copies that will be printed. All books are provided with an ISB-number.
Most Sidestone dissertations are produced by high-quality Printing-on-Demand. These books are printed (both black&white and colour) on smooth 4CC paper, have a wireless glue binding and are fitted with a matt-laminated full-colour cover.
Distribution & Promotion
All Sidestone books will be permanently available in our Webshop. Everyone can buy your PhD thesis online. Moreover your dissertation will be offered to (specialised) bookshops and distributors too! All our English books will moreover be sold internationally by our distributor Oxbow Books in the UK. Through Oxbow our publications will be sold at all major website such als Amazon or Blackwell and further distributed through international wholesellers such as Gardners (UK), Bertrams (UK) and Baker & Taylor (USA).
To further promote your thesis, Sidestone will send out press-releases to (relevant) general media such as papers, professional journals and relevant newsletters and websites. On request we will send copies of your thesis to (professional) media for review purposes.
Costs & Gains
Sidestone is a publisher, not a printing-shop. This means that getting a PhD thesis published does not cost anything. The only thing you will have to purchase for are the copies of your thesis you need for your own use. As there will be no limit on the availability of your thesis, you only need to buy the number of copies you really need, and if the need arises, you just order some more.
Of course you will need a certain number of copies of your PhD thesis for the graduation ceremony (usually 50-100 copies). We can provide you with these copies at a very good price, request a quotation! Afterwards you will be able to keep ordering copies whenever you want for a highly reduced author's price.
If your dissertation is published by Sidestone you will earn a fixed percentage (up to 15%) of all sales. In this way you can even make money with your thesis!
Open Access
Sidestone was founded by scholars, hence we know the importance of Open Access. For this reason we encourage our authors to upload their thesis to Open Access repositories. We will upload your thesis to Google Booksearch and Google Scholar where everyone will be able to completely brows, read or search it for free. Also on our website your thesis can be read and searched through completely for free in our co-branded Sidestone Booksearch.
Making additional information available online
For dissertations there are often many appendices which cannot always be included in the actual publication. We would argue that there is no need to! Sidestone offers to host any additional files (databases, figures, graphs, etc.) you might have and wish to make public. Apart from buying your book, our visitors will be able to freely access this data in our webshop.
